1. What exactly is the SmartBatt Energy solution?

SmartBatt is a portable, high-capacity Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). We provide silent, emission-free, and high-quality electrical power using advanced Lithium technology. Think of it as a cleaner, smarter, and more reliable alternative to the traditional diesel generator.

2. How is SmartBatt different from the standard lead-acid batteries (UPS)?

The difference is fundamental. Lead-acid batteries (found in home UPS systems) are heavy, inefficient, and typically only provide 15–30 minutes of emergency backup. SmartBatt uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4). It is 70% lighter, charges 4x faster, and is designed to be the primary power source for an entire 10–12 hour event, not just a backup.

3. How does this match the power of a diesel generator?

Power is a combination of Load (KW) and Capacity (kWh). Our industrial-grade inverters handle high-current demands and "surges" effortlessly. While generators create "mechanical" power that can fluctuate, SmartBatt delivers a stable Pure Sine Wave at 50/60 Hz —digital-grade power that is safer for your expensive AV, LED, and PCR equipment. We can also support international equipment that requires power at 60 Hz which a diesel generator cannot offer.

4. The general perception is that batteries only last 30 minutes. Can you really power a 12-hour event?

Absolutely. The "30-minute" myth comes from small UPS systems designed only for emergency shutdowns. As explained above, lithium batteries can store large amounts of energy which gets utilized only when power is drawn from it. Unlike a diesel generator that burns fuel even when no or low load is drawn from it, our batteries will retain energy for much longer and when computed accurately using our framework, you can power events for as long as you like, even 12 hours non-stop.

5. How do you determine the size of battery power required for an event or film shoot?

We calculate your total energy requirement during the planning phase by assessing the equipment to be powered. Considering a variety of factors such your peak and average power requirement (KW), your event run-times (hours), availability of recharging facility at site, we size the solution that will meet your requirement and be most economical for you (even cheaper than renting a diesel generator). We ensure you have 100% uptime with a built-in safety margin. We don't just provide "backup"; we provide the total energy needed for the day.

6. What happens if the battery runs out unexpectedly?

We prevent this through multiple layers of protection. We over-spec the capacity by 20–30% based on your equipment list. Our units feature digital displays and remote monitoring so our team can see exactly how many hours of run-time are left at any moment. Further, our units can recharge from any nearby power source (incl. grid, solar or even diesel generators) while still powering your event, so there is no stoppage for even a minute

7. Can SmartBatt handle the "In-rush" current of an LED wall or Sound System?

Yes. Professional audio and LED equipment draw a massive "spike" of power when they first turn on. Traditional UPS systems trip under this load, but SmartBatt inverters are engineered for high "Peak-to-Continuous" ratios, allowing them to handle these startup surges effortlessly.

8. Can we use SmartBatt units indoors?

Since there are zero exhaust fumes and no carbon monoxide, our units are 100% safe for hotel conferences, malls, film studios, basements where diesel engines are strictly prohibited. In fact several of our clients like that our units can be indoors right next to their equipment with very short cable runs, especially in hotels, instead of a diesel generator which is typically in the parking lot or roadside and there is a 500 m cable run to deliver power in the hotel’s conference room

9. Is the system weatherproof for outdoor events?

Most of our units have a rating of IP65, which means they can withstand dust and water will not seep in, so our units can stand next to the equipment you are powering. Under rainy conditions we would require you house our units under a shade to protect the connection points, ensuring power stays on even if the weather turns.

10. Do I need a specialized electrician to set this up?

No. SmartBatt is designed to be Plug-and-Play. We use industry-standard connectors (like 16A/32A/63A CEE forms). If your production team already knows how to plug into a standard distribution board or a generator, they already know how to plug into a SmartBatt unit. For larger setups, our technical team remains on-site to handle the initial connections & set up.

11. Is it safe to have high-capacity batteries around crowds?

Safety is built-in. We use LiFePO4 chemistry, the most stable lithium technology available. Every unit has an integrated Battery Management System (BMS) that automatically shuts down the unit if it detects overheating or electrical anomalies. Our systems are built to meet international safety standards, making them safer than storing litres of flammable diesel fuel on-site.

12. How much space do I need to leave for the units?

Very little. Unlike generators that need a wide "exhaust clearance" and must be kept far away due to noise, SmartBatt units can be placed right behind the stage or tucked into a corner. Further, in terms of size our 20kWh battery units are modular and compact—roughly the footprint of a large flight case—saving you valuable floor space for your guests or production.

13. Is it cheaper than a Diesel Generator?

There are several costs associated with diesel generators which add up which are not associated with SmartBatt units
• Fuel (a standard 125 KVA diesel generator consumes 12-14 litres per hour)

• Charges for extra long cables
• Cost for a driver & technician (incl salary & meals)
• Cost of a backup generator, especially when run as a “hot” backup with no load
